Our History

ZipTape Label ID Systems traces its origins back to 1901 when its founder, Walter A. Plummer, first introduced the W.A. Plummer Mfg. Company; an industrial textile company that manufactured canvas tents, flags, and canvas water pouches. As technology evolved and plastics replaced canvas, W.A. Plummer recognized the untapped growth potential and soon began to manufacture and market patented cable jacketing and shielding systems under The Zippertubing® Company heading (founded in 1957). A subsidiary, Ziptape Label ID Systems, was established in the early 1960’s to address the identification requirements of the wire harness and wire management industry. Ziptape continues to manufacture its popular patented wire marking products in Tempe, Arizona utilizing specially designed equipment and techniques, engineered to exceed industry standards.

Our Commitment

Engineering labels and tags for a specific purpose is one of our strongest assets. Over the years we have regularly received requests from clients to create products that outperform industry standards. In doing so, we have expanded and manufacture specialty labels for many different applications including medical, electronic, industrial and the jewelry industry. The DJ Tags division of ZipTape Label ID began as a result of a search for a stronger, higher quality jewelry tag with elegant design and superior print performance and durability.

Several of our designs and manufacturing processes are patented.
